Tachograph manual entry, done by an app
The hours your card was not in the unit still have to go in. Tacho Easy Entry records them as they happen and writes them to the tachograph in one go.
Manual entry means filling in everything the tachograph did not see: the time between taking your card out and putting it back in. On the unit itself that means four buttons, after the fact, while trying to remember when you started what. With an app it does not: you tap what you are doing when you do it, and it is ready when you insert the card.

Frequently asked questions
What is manual entry on a tachograph?
Entering your activities for the period your driver card was not in the unit, so no unaccounted time is left on the card.
Is manual entry mandatory?
Yes. Article 34(3) of Regulation (EU) 165/2014 requires the driver to enter that period.
What happens if I forget the manual entry?
Annex I to Regulation (EU) 2016/403 classifies not using manual input when required as a very serious infringement. So there is a fine, and it counts towards the company risk rating.
Can an app really write the entry to the tachograph?
Yes. Tacho Easy Entry writes it through the remote interface, shows you beforehand what will be written, and records per attempt whether it was accepted.
Does it work if I recorded nothing?
Yes. You then fill in the time blocks in the app yourself, which is still quicker than on the unit.
Can I practise manual entry first?
Yes, in the tachograph simulator. Same steps as on a real unit, without consequences.
